Agaw Agimat is a Filipino band that is famous in their politics-themed songs. These songs mostly deal with the change of government for the benefits of the people. The band is located in Manila, Philippines.
Agaw Agimat produces an unusual image and sound. Their sound is a modern punky sort of thing taken on big band-era swing. Agaw Agimat was formed in 1993 when the members of this group started jamming together, however, they had no name at that time. They went on that way for quite a while, not picking up their current title of Agaw Agimat until later. The name means seize an amulet. They released their first album entitled R-15 early in 1994. In 1996, they released their follow-up album called Patak.
Agaw Agimat consists of four members who are still as unwavering and uncompromising as ever with their brand of alternative/punk, especially due to the band’s ceaseless acceptance of constant fight for change. It is their ultimate equalizer for adversity, be it in musical or something deeper and of broader spectrum. The members are as follows: QT Paduano - Nadela as the band’s vocalist, Renmin Nadela as the drummer, Hank Palenzuela as the veteran bassist, and Jephthah Wenceslao as the band’s guitarist. The band is always open for reinvention and adaptation. Agaw Agimat always revisits their roots in a simple yet effective material that is both palatable and sharply intellectual, doused with entertaining humor and mordant wit.
